Legendary Nigerian singer, Innocent Idibia, popularly known as 2Baba, has asserted that there is no such thing as a ‘wack artiste’.
Naija News reports that 2Baba made this known in a trending social media video, arguing that every music is tailor-made and acceptance is narrowed down to promotion and other commercial strategies/reasons.
According to 2Baba, many ‘wack artistes’ are sometimes more bankable than talented once because they understand that music is not the art itself but the marketing of the art.
He said, “Every music is tailored made to evoke an emotion, to create a spirit. There is nothing like a wack artiste. That is why many of the so-called wack artists are more bankable than the talented ones. Because they understand that it is not the art itself, it is the marketing of that art.
“No matter how talented you are or how sweet your music is, there is no music that everybody likes. Everything is narrowed down to the marketing, promotion and the business. It is only those who resonate with your music that will like it naturally.”
Meanwhile, 2Baba has urged Nigerians to stop dwelling on his private life and pay attention to pressing matters affecting the country.
During his performance at a recent event, the singer made it clear that conversations about his marriage to Edo lawmaker, Natasha Osawaru, had gone on for too long.
He said that there were more serious national issues that deserved public concern than discussions about his personal affairs.
2Baba explained that he had spent years entertaining Nigerians through his music and felt it was time for people to redirect their energy.
He said that focusing on gossip and personal drama does not help the country move forward.
