Nigerian comedian and reality TV star Aderombi Adedayo, popularly known as DeeOne, has revealed that fashion designer Veekee James was once his girlfriend.
Naija News reports that the comedian made this known while responding to comments the designer recently made about him.
Veekee James had described DeeOne as someone who cannot be taken seriously during a podcast interview with VJ Adams.
She said “For someone like DeeOne, if you are a smart person, you will know that you cannot take him seriously. If you take him seriously then you are either jobless or something else. I have really not seen him say something serious.”
The remarks stirred conversation online and prompted DeeOne to address the situation.
In a video shared on Instagram, DeeOne said their relationship was in the past and that he has moved on.
He asked fans to avoid taking celebrity disagreements personally and gave insight into their former relationship.
According to him, they were together shortly after his appearance on Big Brother Naija in 2018.
He described the relationship as personal and said there was no bad blood between them.
DeeOne also explained that he dislikes being controlled in a relationship and that he felt some of Veekee’s requests went beyond what a boyfriend should handle.
Despite the disagreements, he wished Veekee and her husband well, stressing that he has no ill feelings.
He asked fans to remember that there are aspects of celebrity life they may not fully know and that negative remarks should not always be taken to heart.
He said: “A lot of people don’t know this, when I came out from Big Brother Naija in 2018, myself and Ruth had something. Correct babe oo, sweet , she’s good. That’s the truth of the matter. Personally, I don’t like people controlling me. For me there’s no bad blood and it’s not that I didn’t treat her well.
“Some people in the industry know about what I’m saying. Even the husband Mr Femi James knows. I don’t just like when people are controlling or sending me message too much. She fit dey sewing like this and said help me do this, please can you buy this for me, the delivery is outside. And I was like what’s going on? Na boyfriend I be, I no be house help.
“But to be honest, I wish them the best. I’m a fan of whatever they are doing because I’m not a hater and I have moved on. So, I don’t know where this remark is coming from but if you dey vex maybe there’s something that you feel I have done and I don’t know, I’m sorry.
“But from me oo, it’s all love. My people, don’t take all this thing personal. E get things for the entertainment industry that you people don’t know about, and the reason I’m saying this is because she’s the one that talks negatively about me.”
