The Nigeria Police Force (NPF) has released Nollywood actress Doris Ogala in Lagos after she was rearrested in Abuja shortly after meeting her bail conditions.
According to Sahara Reporters, Ogala was reportedly brought to Lagos by a police team from the Zone 2 Command.
The incident reportedly escalated when Ogala’s lawyer, Marshal Abubakar, attempted to document the police action.
Sources said officers allegedly attacked Abubakar, seized his phones and compelled him to accompany Ogala on a flight to Lagos.
It was gathered that a Take It Back Movement coordinator, Jamiu Towolawi, also known as Jharmo, intervened at the Zone 2 Command and secured the actress’ release on bail.
A source said, “Today, a Take It Back leader, Jamiu Towolawi, aka Jharmo, arrived at the Zone 2 command to demand Ogala’s immediate release.”
Following her release, Chris Okafor, founder of the Mountain of Liberation and Miracle Ministries, also known as Grace Nation Liberation City, reportedly met with the actress and appealed for reconciliation.
According to the source, Okafor spent close to an hour in a closed-door meeting with Ogala, urging her to allow peace to prevail and to put an end to the dispute.
“After their peace meeting, the police released her on ‘health grounds’, with Jharmo standing as surety,” the source added.
It was learnt that the police later returned the phones seized from Ogala and her lawyer, allegedly asking that videos of the arrest be deleted.
However, the Take It Back Movement coordinator reportedly rejected the condition, after which Ogala was allowed to leave.
Recall that Ogala was arrested on Saturday while speaking during a live-streamed interview.
The situation unfolded in real time when the programme host interrupted to ask if the police were in her house, to which the actress replied in the affirmative.
The arrest followed allegations made by Ogala against Pastor Okafor over an alleged breach of a promise to marry her.
Through her lawyers, Synergy Law Partners, the actress had issued a demand letter dated December 16, 2025, seeking 1 billion naira in aggravated damages from the cleric.
Her legal team claimed that Okafor made a “clear, consistent and unequivocal” promise of marriage, which they said formed the basis of a personal relationship that began in 2017.
The letter further alleged that Ogala relied on the promise to her detriment, including exiting a troubled marriage and entrusting the cleric with 45 million naira in a single transaction.
While acknowledging that marriage cannot be compelled, her lawyers argued that the law provides remedies for breach of promise and aggravated harm, warning that legal action would follow if the demand was not met within 21 days.
