The founder of Grace Nation Bible Ministry, Pastor Chris Okafor, has spoken amidst the ongoing relationship scandal involving actress Doris Ogala, maintaining that allegations against him must be proven.
Okafor spoke on Sunday during his marriage thanksgiving service, responding indirectly to the controversy that has trended widely on social media. His remarks were captured in a video that went viral online.
Naija News reported that Doris Ogala was arrested at her residence on Saturday, December 20, 2025, by police following her public accusations that Okafor failed to fulfil a marriage promise made to her.
Addressing members of his congregation, Okafor said his silence was borne out of divine instruction and prudence.
Okafor acknowledged that it can be painful to be misrepresented, but said he had refrained from publicly engaging the claims.
“Though it can be painful that you are misrepresented for what you are not, what you have never seen or known in your life. We leave it there for now. Thanks be unto the Lord,” he stated.
The clergyman reiterated his belief that responding directly to the accusations would be tantamount to glorifying detractors.
“We will never dignify a mad devil by replying. That would amount to glorifying the devil,” Okafor said.
He described his relationship with God as deeply personal and immune to public misunderstanding.
“Hear me and hear me well, since I grew up, I have known this man (God) as my father and nobody can tell me anything about him. I have known him as my father, and I know who he is. No outside knows my father more than I do,” he added.
Okafor stressed that he has instructed his followers to respect the legal process and allow authorities to handle the matter.
“Why we do what we do, in the place of prayer, study, wait on the Lord, and go by the instructions of what he says we should do, there’s a law in this country that works, we follow the law. And the law is taking its course.
“Everything you say to anybody, you must prove it in the law court. So, don’t worry, we are not quiet. We’re praying and we’re following the mature way we should follow. The truth will come out,” he said.
The pastor hinted that there are details connected to the matter that he cannot disclose publicly due to the ongoing investigation and legal proceedings.
“Because the authorities are in the matter, I cannot say it in public. You will be surprised about people that are involved. I got reports, you will be surprised about people that are behind the scene, you will shout because it’s before the authority, I will not jeopardise the investigation and the court process that has ensued,” he said.
Again invoking the legal maxim, he reiterated, “He that alleges must prove.”
