The Nigerian Sovereign Investment Authority (NSIA), through its healthcare subsidiary, Advanced Medical Services Ltd (MedServe), has announced plans to establish 10 diagnostic centres across the country, with the facilities expected to become operational in the first half of 2026.
Naija News understands that the centres, to be sited in major regions, are part of the first phase of a nationwide diagnostic expansion programme aimed at improving access to early detection and medical testing in Nigeria.
As part of the rollout, NSIA/MedServe will enter a 10-year agreement with GE HealthCare for the supply of diagnostic equipment, including CT scanners, mammography machines, digital X-ray systems, and ultrasound devices. The arrangement also includes long-term service support and training for Nigerian medical professionals.
Speaking on the initiative, Managing Director/CEO of MedServe, Tolu Adewole, said the partnership marked “a pivotal milestone in Nigeria’s healthcare journey.”
According to him, “By combining world-class technology with local expertise, we are strengthening the national healthcare system and expanding access to reliable diagnostic services for millions of Nigerians.”
He added that the centres would support early disease detection and timely medical intervention.
General Manager of GE HealthCare West Africa, George Uduku, noted that the collaboration was driven by the need to close Nigeria’s diagnostic gap.
“Access to advanced diagnostic services remains a top priority for the country,” he said.
Uduku stated that bringing imaging technology closer to communities would “enable earlier diagnosis, improve treatment decisions, and strengthen local capacity through training and long-term support.”
He added that GE HealthCare was committed to expanding the availability of quality diagnostic care across more communities.
Naija News reports that the initiative is expected to reduce long travel distances for medical tests, minimise delays associated with diagnosis, and improve early detection of Health conditions in the country.
