A scabies outbreak has infected about 150 people at a community in Guyuk Local Government Area of Adamawa State.
The contagious skin disease has spread to six wards within the densely populated Nungura land, according to the Disease Surveillance and Notification Officer for Guyuk, Abdul Sheji.
Sheji named the affected wards as Dukul, Bobini, Lokoro, Guyuk, Banjiram, and Purokayo.

Sheji said the authorities had made necessary moves to address the outbreak, elaborating, “We have sent an inventory of the affected persons to the Primary Health Care Development Agency in Yola for quick intervention.”
The Executive Secretary for Health in Guyuk LGA, Mrs. Eriya Daniel, also confirmed the outbreak, lending her call for immediate assistance from both government and non-governmental organizations to help contain the spread.
