Popular Nigerian singer, Seyi Shay, has faulted the narrative that men are not essential, describing it as bullshit.
Naija News reports that Seyi, in a recent episode of ‘The Honest Bunch’ podcast, emphasised the importance of a father figure in the upbringing of the girl child.
The music star claimed that many women who had a father figure in their lives growing up are more stable and have access to better education and morals than those who didn’t.
Seyi Shay noted that the narrative that men are not important is an agenda for further division in homes and contributes to more broken homes.
She said, “Most women who have a father figure in thier lives are generally more stable. They had a lot more access to good education and good morals growing up than the ones that don’t.
“Also, there is a bar when they want to get married or when they chose male friends. All these narratives of men are not important is bullsh*t because that’s just an agenda for more divisions in our homes so that we can churn out more broken souls and more lost females and males.”
The 39-year-old singer said she is grateful that she didn’t have a daughter in her 20s, stressing that she now has the experience and capacity to raise a child more effectively.
She explained that with her experience, she would be able to guide her daughter so as not to make the same mistakes she had made regarding men, friendships, and other endeavours.
