The Nigeria Football Federation, NFF, has confirmed that Arthur Okonkwo is now eligible to represent the Super Eagles.

This follows the 24-year-old’s nationality switch.

Okonkwo was born to Nigerian parents in the UK and has represented England at the U-15, U-16, U-17 and U-18 levels.

However, the former Arsenal stopper wants to represent the African country at the senior level.

“The NFF is always excited to have another good player committing to Nigeria and providing an option in a particular position,” NFF Director of Communications, Ademola Olajire, told ESPN.

Okonkwo will now compete with current number one Stanley Nwabali, Maduka Okoye, Amas Obasogie, Francis Uzoho and Ebenezer Harcourt for the Eagles’ number one shirt.
