The head coach of the Super Eagles, Eric Chelle, reportedly ignored Victor Osimhen’s pleas to continue against DR Congo in their 2026 World Cup playoff on Sunday.
This was revealed by FlashScore editor, Shina Oludare.
Oludare claims he had breakfast with a member of the squad, who revealed Osimhen was desperate to play on despite a slight hamstring injury.
But the Galatasaray striker was replaced by Akor Adams with the score at 1-1.
Oludare wrote on X: “Had breakfast with a member of the Super Eagles technical crew this morning.
“He told me Osimhen was begging to play in the second half despite the injury, but they turned him down to avoid aggravating it with AFCON around the corner.
“Yet some of you still come online to tweet pure jargon.”
